Too.Busy.To.Update.

Well, just to let whoever still reads my LJ know that I am still alive, and breathing. And eating. etc.
Just that I've been too busy and the cable connection at home is not working so well either.

Go-kart and ゲド戦記

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Howl's Moving Castle

I went Go-kart racing this evening. Only a 20-minute drive has already made all four of us completely exhausted.
It really is not easy. But it sure was fun. Very exciting.
You need to use your entire body to control the vehicle, and the steering wheel is VERY tight.

Now just imagine doing this at 300 mph.
Those F-1 racers sure are incredible.

On the other hand, first week of class has passed. And I am already feeling tired...heh.
I have so much to study ahead of me...
Nah, I will just hang in there I know..

Studio Ghibli has a new anime movie coming out...ゲド戦記 (Tales of Earthsea) is the name..
It is not directed by Hayao Miyazaki but his son Goro Miyazaki..
The review overall is toward the negative side...I am still curious about this movie, though.
Besides, there is an added pleasant surprise that Okada Junichi did the voice of the main character.
I wonder if he can voice as good as Kimura Takuya did as Howl in Howl's Moving Castle? I could barely recognize Kimura's voice...he really did an excellent job.

School started today.
I am taking six classes this semester, 5 my major classes.
I doubt I will have time to do anything else but to study..but it's okay.

I am taking a Cinema class this semester to fulfill the graduating requirements.
The professor talked about Citizen Kane today. His teaching style is sort of..dull, on top of the fact that this is a three-hour class...
He seems to have many Hollywood connections, though.
He showed us a spoof on the news rail that starts Citizen Kane. What made it more fun was that it was a never-made-public spoof that was made especially for Steven Spielberg's 40th birthday, under the request of Spielberg's wife.

And no I haven't watched Citizen Kane...yet.
Definitely going to rent it this weekend.

........and can San Francisco get any colder? *shivers

Louisiana is HOT.
And when I say hot I mean in the 90s throughout the entire day.

But it feels like I am staying in a resort in the middle of a forest. Most houses here are situated in the middle of, well, greens. =3

And my lovely nephew is beyond cute. He is so adorable, bubbling something that we don't understand all the time and smiles the cutest smiles. ^_^

Moving again..

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Apple Cider

I've decided to move again.
Mostly because, as it turned out, the commute from my current place to the school takes strangely long. One-way ride on Muni M to SFSU takes almost an hour, including the walk to the bart station -.-

Besides, parking has been a pain in the ass also...

I might try to rent a two-bed room apartment at Park Merced. The location is perfect, being it right next to the campus.
I already went to check out the place. It's pretty nice, with a HUGE living room and two full-bathrooms..
The only problem is that I will need to find a roommate, most likely a stranger..
That I am not sure if I can feel secure to share a living space with...
But I have no choice really. Living in San Francisco is so expensive.

Being busy is great.
Being busy in warm weather is like heaven.

Two of my good friends from high school are coming over to San Francisco from Taiwan in August.
We might go on a road trip around California. I am very, very excited about it.
This just might be my last break before going into studying at full speed.
Then there is graduate school....internship...
Umm..and maybe throwing dating into the mix as well?
Meh.

Dancing is FUN!
Just went back from my ballroom dance class and I had a blast!

It's not just learning the steps and techniques that's fun but also trying to make it work with a partner that's amazingly fun.
In ballroom dance, there is this "leader" and "follower" relationship between a dance pair.
The leader, as the name suggests, leads the dance. The follower follows.
Honestly I think I like to lead more. But alas I am female and well, most females are "followers" in ballroom dance. ^_^;;

I am so glad that I took this class.
Exercising physically really clears my mind, in a way.

However, I somehow managed to catch a cold.
The always unpredictable San Francisco weather got me again.

I just hope this coughing-headache-sore-throat-cold will go away soon :(

It SNOWED in San Francisco!!!
I was in the car with my friends when it happened.
It was amazing!!!
Okay it was not really snow but A LOT of hails.
We were at the Sunset area and there were lightening and thunders first and THEN tons of hails just pouring down on us.

Completely covered the roads and cars.
They looked exactly like snows...
Heh.

A nice surprise for my birthday I'd say.

Yeah.
I turned 25 today. :333

Death Note is being made into a movie..
Dissapointed with the casting..Fujiwara simply isn't the Laito I have in mind!

Anyhow, I am still looking forward to it.
Afterall, I was once loving the manga so much. :33

The movie's official website is pretty neat.

Finally settled in my new place.
Impression after spending my first night there: It's so much goddamn warmer than Daly City!
Which is GOOD because I loathe coldness. :|
It might take a while for me to get used to this "city life,"though..
Yet this new place certainly reminds me of my home back in Taiwan, where everything is within walking-distance.

Hopefully I will be able to use my computer by the end of this week..with my old HD intact!
The problem, it seems, is not the hard drive but the motherboard..
How the heck did I end up breaking the motherboard...I have no idea. *sweats

But I suppose my HD is safe from reformatting for now..

I hope I can still manage to grab a few new drama cd releases!

I feel sooooo far away from the world of Yaoi.
I want my computer back!!! *wails
My collections of bl drama cds and mangas are gone anyway..;_;
Gosh why do I keep all my Junjun drama cds in the hard drive? *sobs

Well hopefully I can try to fix my hard drive this weekend. According to my cousin, I only need to reinstall Windows and by doing that, I get to reformat my hard drive as well?

I'll find out this weekend then..

Computer still dead.
I need to either reformat the entire freaking hard drive or get a new one.
Gawd I seem to have no luck when it comes to using a computer..it never stayed alive with me long.. *_____*

Maybe I should just get a new computer from Dell....

I did manage to catch quite a few movies w/o my dear computer/internet's presence, though.
Did I mention that Brokeback Mountain is an amazing movie?
Oh yeah I think I did.
I've watched Spider, Machinist, Farewell My Concubine and the Constant Gardener in this past week.
I didn't get to finish Farewell My Concubine because the DVD was corrupted. Will probably go back and rent the VHS version and finish it. It's such a beautifully-shot movie.

I could definitely draw a parallel between Brokeback and The Constant Gardener.
They both are about love, and about breaking social norms(in Constant Gardener's case, breaking the norms of what "seems" right in the society)
And unfortunately in both movies, the endings are no fairy-tale-live-happily-ever-after at all.
That's what makes those two movies so heart-wrenching and powerful.

The rain finally stopped.
It's been two days that I came home with half of my jeans SOAKED.
Yikes.

And look at the damaged houses all around the bay area.
Despite the almighty scientific advances and technology that the US seems to possess, it sure is useless when facing such great natural powers.

I listened to いつかじゃない明日のために/side直哉 again. With a very nicely-done translation this time.
Gawd it's even more heart-wrenching now that I can understand every single line by Mototsugu.
Konitan is simply breath-taking in this drama cd, expressing so much sorrow and self-conflict within himself through his voice.
I could hear all.
His frustration and his strong affection toward Nao.
I got teared up again listening to this, for the third time.
(track 7 is so the cause, with Konitan basically breaking down completely)

You fit in with:
Spiritualism

Your ideals are mostly spiritual, but in an individualistic way. While spirituality is very important in your life, organized religion itself may not be for you. It is best for you to seek these things on your own terms.

60% spiritual.
80% reason-oriented.

Take this quiz at QuizGalaxy.com

Yep. So very true on the "organized religion itself may not be for you" part.

Another new year has come into my life.
Umm..maybe I really should send myself an e-mail detailing what my plan for the rest of life is, which, is to be delivered to my e-mail inbox 30 years from now.
It'd be REALLY interesting to read something I've written 30 years ago.
If the e-mail really did deliver, that is.

Hope everyone will have a BETTER year ahead of you! :33

5 weird habits of me:

[1] I am NOT a lefty but I somehow always open the cans and bottles with my left hand. :3

[2] Like [info]coomasieblue,I talk to myself a lot when I am by myself. I think the habit started when I was trying to improve my English in high school back in Taiwan. Even with a very handy English teacher Mom, I decided the best way to learn English efficiently was to talk to myself in English. It's hard for me to comprehend even now but my English grades back in high school were so much higher than my Chinese grades. Odd yet amazing. I guess the method worked. :O

[3] I absolutely dread hearing people's chewing sounds when eating. I'd either turn on the music or make small talks.

[4] I bend my head down whenever I am towel-drying my hair.

[5] I HATE peanuts, peanut butter or anything related to them. Um...this is really not a weird habit I suppose..

Now my break is over. Back to paper-writing.... <_< Can't wait for the finals to over. That big black King Kong awaits me in the theater..:p Edited: OMG 限りなくゲームに近い本気 is one hell of a good drama cd. I went ahead listening to it w/o knowing whatsoever about the story plot. What a bad-ass seme this story has! 0.0 Then again I mostly pat attention only to uke(s) in a bl drama cd. And Narita-san portrayed that hentai brother really well that I couldn't help but to notice him. Takeuchi Ken really did an amazing job considering he is only a newbie in the seiyuu industry. I am really looking forward to hearing more of his works. I did a quick search and the novel is actually part of a series. I wonder if the rest will be made into drama cds as well...

One of my favorite angsty mangas is being made into drama cd!
Hirakawa Daisuke should be perfect for the role but I am not really sure about Junjun, though.
For once Junjun might sound too old for the character of the younger brother? :3
But to be able to listen to the drama cd version of the manga is exciting enough.

Thanksgiving break starting tomorrow.
The usual dinner at my aunt's house.
I suppose I really am getting older since it no longer is some event that I am looking forward to.
No maybe it's because neither my mom, my dad or my sister are here in San Francisco.
Spending Thanksgiving with a bunch of relatives OTHER than my family really is not something exciting at all..

But hey, to those who are, Happy Thanksgiving!

Been listening to BL裏話 and I absolutely admire Morimori's attitude toward bl drama.
I might be missing a few points here and there since my understanding in Japanese is still really crappy,
but it seems like he's willing to try on all kinds of roles, uke or seme.
He is, in a way, "a performer/actor"after all.

And I admire that attitude of his.
A kind of pride toward his profession I'd say.
Hey it's true that his killer voice has entertained many fangirls! :3

Umm..and my research paper topic for my Japanese culture class would be "Yaoi the sub-pop culture"
Still under review by my instructor but I think I will need to do quite a bit of clarification on what yaoi is to her first...

And I am so going to see Brokeback Mountain when it's out in the theater!
I have really high expectation from this movie and I hope it won't disappoint me.

Isn't the iPod shuffle just so neat?
The police confiscated my sword at the entrance check point.
Seriously, do I look that scary and strong that I'd hurt someone with a $4 plastic sword?

Random thoughts...

I personally don't like Sakurai Takahiro's voice that much..
Probably has to do with the fact that I am into cute/shotaish voice like no tomorrow.
But he is soooo adorable in ケダモノと呼ばれる男...silly-stupid-naive cute. xDDD

The other day I was on the bus and listening to some pointless chatters from the two Japanese passengers next to me and my friend.
I was very surprised to find that I could actually understand 90% of what they were saying.
Must from those intense drama-cd listening that I've been doing lately.

Halloween is fast approaching...I hope I can get to dress up as the character I plan to..
Rin from Togainu no Chi
